Buffalo Center Tribune welcomes new employees

Mid-America Publishing is pleased to announce that The Buffalo Center Tribune has two new staff members.

Helen Finer of Thompson joins the Tribune as its new Office Coordinator. She began her duties at the office on Friday, April 14. Helen previously worked at the Tribune from 2008 to 2009. “I’m happy to be back,” said Helen.

Helen has more than 30 years of office experience, and her most recent job was as the part-time city clerk at Leland, where she served for two and a half years. She has also been an Avon representative for about 15 years, and she makes mints with her business, Helen’s Sweet Treats.

Helen and her husband, Wendell, have lived in rural Thompson for 18 years, where Wendell farms corn and soybeans.

She is originally from the Quad Cities area, while her husband is a native of Thompson. The Finers have a 16-year-old daughter, Faith, who is a sophomore at North Iowa High School.

Helen will be at the Tribune office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, as well as Thursday mornings. To coincide with the change, the Tribune has new office hours, which are 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, as well as 1-5 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The Buffalo Center Tribune also welcomes Sandy Evans to our staff as Marketing Representative.

She has been a marketing representative for almost six years at our sister paper The Leader in Garner and Britt.

Sandy is an experienced newspaper person “doing everything at a newspaper except run the press,” which is typical of the weekly newspapers she has been employed by. She has also worked at daily newspapers such as The Le Mars Daily Sentinel, The Sioux City Journal and The Boone News Republican in their advertising/ art departments.

Sandy left the Sioux City Journal after nine years and relocated to Colorado, where her husband, Pastor Paul Evans, attended seminary. After serving various assigned churches around Iowa, Paul now serves the Garner United Methodist Church.

To contact Sandy for your advertising needs, call her at 712-490-9692 or email her at tribuneads@qwestoffice. net
