Carson joins Mid-America Publishing

Bethany Carson

Bethany Carson has joined Mid-America Publishing as News Editor at the Allison and Clarksville offices. From the Ackley area, Carson said her dream was always to work as a writer.

She started editing in 2005 with a small newsletter for family and friends. In 2011, she began blogging about the attractions of small town Iowa.

“Everything and everyone has a story,” she said, “and I like to make it my job to find that story.”

To Carson, even towns like Cleves and Austinville hold fascination and intrigue.

“We’re excited to have Bethany join the Mid-America team,” said President and CEO Ryan Harvey. “Bethany has an innate curiosity to find the full story. I think our readers are going to thoroughly enjoy her writing style, her exceptional photography skills and her warm personality. We believe she’ll be a great fit for the Butler County staff and look forward to having her as a member of the team for many years to come.”

A highlight of blogging for her was covering the 2016 Iowa Caucuses, meeting 16 of the candidates.

“It’s essential to try to learn the whole story,” Carson said, “by watching the nightly news, you only get 30-second sound bites. It’s important to supplement that by being active in your community, going to events to see the news for yourself, and reading your local newspaper.”

Carson looks forward to becoming better acquainted with the Allison and Clarksville communities.
